William J. Hurley, III

Mr. Hurley is a Senior Associate and is one of the cornerstones of the firm's extensive legal experience. Having been affiliated with Mr. Crowley for much of his legal career, he provides the depth of experience and expertise required by the firm's extensive banking and bank clientele. His work includes substantial experience assisting clients with management of delinquent or troubled assets of acquired bank institutions.

A veteran attorney with more than 28 years experience, Mr. Hurley has worked closely over the years with some of the largest banks and leading manufacturers in the American Midwest. He has practiced extensively and quite successfully in banking and commercial law, including banking and lending related litigation and workouts, documentation and closing of loans and other secured transactions, loan participation agreements, regulatory and compliance matters. Mr. Hurley's practice also emphasizes corporate governance matters for non public service and manufacturing companies; officers and directors liability including the area of fiduciary duty; joint ventures and joint venture dispute and related business matters. He has been active in providing general counsel and guidance for management of banking clients and their related subsidiaries and provided informational seminars for clients. He has negotiated and closed innumerable real estate and business related transactions including purchases, sales, lending, exchanges, development, leasing, land use, business and shareholder agreements. Other areas of his practice include probate and estate matters, eminent domain, mechanics lien and environmental matters.

Mr. Hurley has practiced in the Chicago metropolitan area and collar counties including Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Will, DeKalb, and Winnebago Counties since his admission to the bar in 1982. He has successfully briefed and argued matters in the Illinois Appellate Courts. He is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and Federal District Court, Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Hurley has served as Special Assistant to the Attorney General of Illinois, and Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago, the City of Bedford Park and other municipalities in the Chicago area. Mr. Hurley received an undergraduate degree in Geology from Knox College in 1977. He then spent two years as a well site geologist in the Gulf Coast States. Upon his return to Illinois he enrolled in John Marshall Law School and obtained his law degree (J.D.) in 1982. He is a member of the Illinois Bar Association.
